The Australian team for the New Zealand Quadrangular tournament has been named (editor’s note: it was actually named a while ago but we only just discovered it so thought we would share it with the world). The Australian Polocrosse Association have opted to recall two of its past stars in Jane Cooper and Hayden Turnbull, both World Cup winners in 2003 and 2007. Jane Cooper also coached the USA team in the 2011 World Cup to their highest ever finish in fourth place, just one place behind Australia’s own team.

Only three members of Australia’s 2011 World Cup side survive, Robert Sibley and Will Weston are still in the Men’s side and Alison Mathie is in the Ladies section. The fourth man is Jim Grills, who is called up to Australian side at the age of 18, which is young for an Australian National team. Kerryn Parsons and April Leggett are the other two on the Ladies section

Australia have also changed their coach. After a long spell in change Ross Shepherd has been replaced for this tour by Troy Henry, another former World Cup winner. The reserves for the tour are Jared Martin and Jessica Bowman. The New Zealand Quadrangular tournament will take place at Turangi, near Taupo on the 25th to the 31st of March 2013.
