Queensland Dominate Barastoc Interstate Series
Queensland picked up four of the five titles on offer in Barastoc Interstate series, which took place at Morgan Park, Warwick on the 3rd and 4th of April. Queensland picked up the Men, Women’s, Under 21’s and Juniors titles and finished second in the Masters competition, which was won by New South Wales. New South Wales finished as runners up in three of the other categories, Women’s, Under 21’s and Juniors while Victoria picked up second place in the Men’s competition. Matt Johnson of Tansey and Kris Lynas of the Gold Coast were particularly impressive for Queensland as they defeated Victoria 25-16 in the men’s final.
The Shell Cup Club competition ran alongside the Interstate series and this saw further success for Tansey players as they lifted the Shell Cup, defeating Lake George in a close final which ended 18-16. Tom O’Neil was on very good form for Tansey and picked up the Best Horse and Rider trophy.
Tansey also managed to pick up second places in the B grade competition and in the Juniors. The home team, Warwick, won both the Juniors and the A grade mixed competition.
