A number of sponsors have signed up to support the forthcoming Polocrosse Extreme Cup and the UK versus USA polocrosse test matches at Newmarket in Suffolk since they were officially announced two months ago. They include a number of local organisations, including the racing charity Retraining of Racehorses who will sponsor prizes for the best retrained racehorses in the competition.

he main sponsor of the event will be Equimark Horseboxes, the Suffolk based horsebox manufacturer, who are sponsoring a number of the grades in the UKPA and Pony club tournaments. The other grade sponsors for the event are the African travel experience company Trip Africa and the clothing company OJ Polo.

The equestrian magazine Your Horse is signed up as a media partner to the event, helping promote the event and running competitions for people to win free entry and seats at the sponsors lunch.

Mark Flinton, the managing director of Equimark Horseboxes, said “Polocrosse is new to us but it is a fantastic sport to watch featuring an irresistible combination of speed, skill and horses and so we are delighted to be supporting it. This is a great local event and something which people should definitely come along and see for themselves. We will be displaying our range of horseboxes there so if people can drag themselves away from the action they can also have a look around what we have to offer.”

Imogen Johnson, deputy editor of Your Horse magazine, said “Over the past few years we’ve watched polocrosse grow in popularity across the UK and Your Horse is delighted to be supporting such an exciting sport in the run up to the UK v USA test matches. There aren’t many equestrian sports that are as accessible as polocrosse – absolutely anyone can have a go and with hard work and determination it’s possible for anyone to make it to the top, which is so inspiring for riders who might be looking to give it a go. This event will be a great opportunity for people to watch some of the world’s best polocrosse players compete – members of Your Horse team there cheering on our team and if you can make it we’d definitely recommend that you do too!”
All the grade sponsors will have a trade stand on site and alongside the polocrosse are a fun fair, food stands and a bar so that people can enjoy a family day out while watching some spectacular action. The polocrosse tournaments run from 9am to 4pm each day with the international test matches between the UK and USA daily around 1pm.
